Are you interested in taking a bus tour of the barn quilts in our project? We have a bus tour scheduled for Saturday, September 15, 2012 at 10AM (till about noon). Reservations are required so that we can determine if an additional tour is warranted that day. Cost is $12 per person. We will be touring as many of our 85+ barn quilts as we can in that time frame. Contact stutenbm at yahoo.com to reserve your seat. This bus tour is in conjunction with the Darlington WI quilt show.
The Norwegian Flag design was chosen to honor the family heritage as Robert and Peggy's grandparents came from Norway.
The block pattern was selected after much searching online for the "right" square. We wanted to incorporate the Swiss flag into the block. We named the block "Swiss Family Ubersox" to honor our Swiss descendants. The block was a Mother's Day gift in 2010 from daughter Sara and her husband, John Gleason. John's sister, Julie Anderson of Scales Mound, IL painted the block.
The barn quilt design was chosen because their grandmother made a double wedding band quilt for them when they got married in 1971.
The Farmer's Daughter design was designed color-wise by the Argyle High School Art Department.
